H.E. Aisha Laraba Abdullahi

h e aisha laraba abdullahi H. E. Dr. Aisha Laraba Abdullahi, was elected AU Commissioner for Political Affairs during the Summit of the African         Heads of State and  Government in July, 2012, held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 

 She was appointed Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Guinea in May 2008.          After   finishing her four-year term successfully in Conakry, Amb Abdullahi’s tenure was renewed in 2012 by H.E                President Goodluck Jonathan, for her remarkable performance and achievement in resolving the Guinean crises during      her first term. She was decorated as the Commander of the Order of the Republic of Guinea for her sterling performance.

Before her appointment as an Ambassador, Dr Aisha Abdullahi was Commissioner for Special Duties in Bauchi State, Nigeria from May 2004 to May 2007. Part of her major successes as a Commissioner in her State was the settlement of thousands of the IDPs in Bauchi State, who fled the neighboring Plateau State as a result of religious and ethnic crises, the improvement of the road network in the State and the re-invigoration of the Bauchi State Investment Corporation.

H.E. Aisha Abdullahi holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi, Nigeria, in 2005, where she rose to become a Senior Lecturer at the School of Science and Science Education, ATBU, Bauchi, between 1990 and 2003. A Professional Fellow of the Chemical Society of Nigeria, Abdullahi has published many articles, received many commendation awards, held many leadership positions, and served in various committees.

Dr Abdullahi is married with children, and had been involved in a wide range of community services.
